Tyra Gray joined University Surgical Associates in 2001 as director of human resources, bringing to the position more than 24 years of experience in the field.
Beginning her career in 1984 with Olan Mills as a customer service representative, Tyra would spend the next 14 years gaining valuable experience in many functions of the human resource department. Following a move to the personnel department in 1986, she was soon promoted to assistant personnel manager for the local office before being promoted to the corporate office as employee relations specialist. While at Olan Mills she also assisted district and area managers with training, payroll operations and staffing for more than 500 in Olan Mills’ nationwide mobile divisions.
In 1998 she accepted the position of office manager for a Chattanooga computer company, managing day-to-day activities of the sales and technical staff and overseeing company payroll.
Prior to joining USA, she served as an employee relations specialist for US Xpress Enterprises in Tunnel Hill, GA from 2000-2001, where she managed the hiring of office applicants, provided employee benefit orientation for new drivers and performed related tasks for more than 2,700 office and transportation specialists.
Tyra is a current member of the Chattanooga Area Society for Healthcare Human Resources Association (CASHHRA), assisting the group with their statewide conference and also serving as secretary in 2006-2007, and has enjoyed volunteering for Relay for Life, Ronald McDonald House and Volunteers in Medicine.
