Michael E. Barfield, MD, FACS, FSVS
Dr. Barfield specializes in vascular and endovascular surgery and has particular interest in carotid disease, carotid stenting, the treatment of complex aortic and peripheral aneurysms, Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), limb salvage, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), venous disease, mesenteric and renal vascular disease, and dialysis vascular access.
Dr. Barfield is board certified through the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and is licensed in Tennessee, New York and North Carolina. He also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery for the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and has presented nationally and internationally on various vascular surgery topics.
Prior to joining USA, Dr. Barfield served as an assistant professor of surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center since 2018 and he also served as the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the New York Harbor Health System in Manhattan from 2019-2022.
Charity Work and Personal Interests
In keeping with his passion for patient care, Dr. Barfield has participated in several missions-related trips to Haiti, West Africa, South America and other countries around the world. These trips involved providing medical care along with building orphanages, teaching public health classes and other activities.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Barfield enjoys travel, aviation, running, cycling, hiking, camping, golf, wine collecting, and SEC football.
