Julie Koffron, MD, FACS

Julie Koffron is a fellowship trained HPB surgeon who specializes in the open and minimally invasive procedures of the liver, pancreas and biliary system. Early in her practice, in 2006, she also completed additional certification in laparoscopic liver resection. Dr. Koffron offers complex HPB resections, including vascular reconstruction. She and her husband have worked as a surgical team since 2008. Her main focus is providing multidisciplinary, comprehensive care for the pancreatic cancer population. Dr. Koffron has 20 years of experience in HPB surgery, with high volume laparoscopic liver and pancreas resection and is the region’s leader in complex pancreatic resection.

Dr. Koffron has focused on quality initiatives in HPB surgery throughout her career, developing training criteria and collaborating with other leaders in HPB nationally to establish best practice guidelines that improve safety of complex pancreatic surgery. Dr. Koffron performed the first NanoKnife procedure in Tennessee for unresectable pancreatic cancer at Erlanger in December 2023, having developed expertise in this system of tumor ablation in 2011.

Dr. Koffron is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). She will see patients at USA’s Surgical Specialties Building and performs surgery at Erlanger Hospital.

Dr. Koffron is Medical Director for Erlanger Pancreatic Cancer Care and HPB Services.
