Dr. Nelson, board certified through the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, specializes in general and robotic colorectal surgery. He joined University Surgical Associates in 2013.

Dr. Nelson has office hours at USA’s Hixson Office, USA’s Gunbarrel Office every first, third, and fifth Monday (1 – 4 pm), USA’s Surgical Specialties Building on Wednesday (1 – 3:50 pm), Erlanger Medical Mall on Thursday (1 – 3:50 pm) and CHI Memorial physician’s office building on Friday (8:30 – 11 am).

He performs surgery at Erlanger Hospital, CHI Memorial Hospital, CHI Memorial Hixson, the Plaza Surgery Center at Erlanger, Erlanger East, and Parkridge Hospital.

Dr. Nelson is associate program director of the general surgery residency and colorectal fellowship for the University of Tennessee College of Medicine’s Department of Surgery in Chattanooga.
