When you’re looking for a surgeon, you want the most highly trained and skilled practitioner available. For colorectal surgery, you don’t have to look to Nashville or Atlanta to receive the best care. In fact, leading colorectal care is right here in Chattanooga.
University Surgical Associates, in partnership with the UT Medical System, aims to provide advanced clinical opportunities for surgeons who want to further specialize in their field and refine their surgical techniques.
The Colon and Rectal Fellowship, championed by USA surgeons in 1999, is the first fellowship of its type within the UT system and throughout the state of Tennessee approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The one-year comprehensive clinical and research program is based primarily at Erlanger, with the goal of teaching competent general surgeons to become well versed in the diagnosis and management of diseases and disorders of the colon, rectum and anus.
What does this mean for you or your family member who's deciding which surgeon choose? It means the fellowship-trained surgeons at USA have gone above and beyond – not only to learn the most up-to-date and advanced techniques available to treat colorectal cancer – but also to teach others these techniques.
