                Courteously and efficientlyoperates the central communications center. This position’s primaryresponsibility is directing the line of communication between the practice andthe patients that require USA’s services. A Switchboard Operator answers allincoming telephone calls and directs them to the proper department. TheOperator may also be responsible for placing outgoing calls from physicians orother healthcare professionals.



  • Commitment to perform all job responsibilities in accordance with thephilosophy and mission statement of USA. Honest, ethical, professional behavioris a condition of employment.

  • Answers incoming telephone calls in a courteous and professional mannerand directs them to the proper department

  • Alpha and voice pages physicians and staff

  • Places outgoing calls for medical staff as requested

  • Communicates call schedules and/or changes with answering services

  •   Performs other receptionistduties upon completion of assigned tasks when necessary

  • Rolls/unrolls phones to answering service for USA and VDS aftercompletion of working hours

  • Cancels appointments and makes appropriate staff aware of thecancellations

  • Basic knowledge of software

  • Entering demographics

  • Basic knowledge of insurance

  • Eligibility

  • Assign incoming fax to appropriate schedulers

  • Basic knowledge of Provider Flow

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent

  • One or more years experience in a position where large amounts ofcustomer interaction were required

  • Prefer one or more years of experience as receptionist or switchboardoperator in a healthcare setting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
