In a move to better serve its growing vascular patient base, University Surgical Associates opened its Surgical Specialties Building (SSB) at 2108 E. Third Street in Chattanooga in January of 2006, providing ample space for the group's Vein Center at USA.
The state-of-the-art facility is conveniently located between Memorial and Parkridge Hospitals, approximately one mile east of Erlanger Medical Center.
Comprising of Vascular Diagnostic Services (VDS), the Vein Center at USA and USA Special Procedures, the facility offers nearly 23,000 square feet of patient and office space. The SSB supports the center's vast range of non-invasive and invasive vascular procedures, while also providing space to USA physicians for general surgery consultation and breast disease treatment and consultation.
Some non-invasive procedures performed at the laboratory include carotid ultrasound, venous ultrasound, arterial studies, abdominal ultrasound, and pre-op vein mapping for placement of dialysis fistulas or bypass vein grafts.
Invasive procedures include endovenous laser treatments (EVLT), sclerotherapy, radio frequency ablation, fistulagrams, diagnostic arteriograms and some angioplasty procedures. Equipment upgrades at the facility include two Philips IU-22 imagers, four Philips ATL 5000 imagers, a Bio-Sound Technos Imager, and an OEC 9800 C-arm.
